The last 10 photos of the pieces featured in this blog post were part of an organised event to brighten up the Sheffield Antiques Quarter, the vision was the brainchild of Hendrika Stevens with a little (a lot) help from Kisk (Smashproof), coordinating artists. I wasn’t able to go on the day, but many others did. The event was such a success, they are doing it again in September this year.

Goodnight Mr Heathcote

Once upon a time there was a woman who made an amazing discovery ( to her)… 0f an artist called Phlegm… and the rest, as they say, is history…

A very important part of that history evolves around one building A. R.Heathcote… ¬† ¬† ¬† ¬† ¬† ¬† ¬† ¬† ¬† ¬† ¬† ¬† ¬† ¬† ¬† ¬† ¬† ¬† ¬† ¬† ¬† ¬† ¬† ¬† ¬† ¬† ¬† ¬† ¬† ¬† ¬† ¬† ¬† ¬†DSCF1628my first urbex….. . ¬† ¬† ¬† ¬†DSCF6347¬†my first hidden Phlegm and Rocket01… ¬† ¬† ¬†DSCF6323my first Fauna… ¬† ¬† ¬†DSCF6333It could even be Phlegms first painting spot, got to be a very early one¬†anyway.

DSCF6197Kid Acne was quite a regular visitor too.

DSCF3346But Phlegm was the busiest I think.

DSCF6641More artists began to visit the site, Perms went large.

DSCF7455The Phlegm and Rocket wall was painted over, initially with a Kid Acne x EMA x Drot collab ¬†(there were tears, I can tell you!) and then this appeared by… mmm ..I wonder…

DSCF6640Dscreet painted one of his signature owls, I was quite giddy about this.

It was a nightmare going through photos for this, my biggest ever post, I’ll be bound to have put someone out and I apologise for that. I have 6 years of photos from this place, literally thousands. I really had a connection with it, rats, crack heads and all, and I am gutted at it’s loss.

DSCF3452  DSCF3558

I haven’t included pics from the boards or the Niche wall, they’re worthy of a post on their own though, if anyone’s interested.

Below is a link that tells you about the industrial history of Heathcotes, includes pre-graffiti pics http://www.28dayslater.co.uk/a-r-heathcote-cutlers-sheffield.t21572

Sleeep well Mr Heathcote, I for one will miss you.

Greetings From Heidelberg

DSCF3187Rainbow Rambo!DSCF3748Sour taking it easy, yes I know it’s an old one,but I don’t get out much. ūüėČDSCF3642Wonderful piece by Rocket 01 and Faunagraphic, spent ages looking for this, in all the wrong places.DSCF3611I spied a Foundry piece on his all weather wall.¬†DSCF3588 StitchSico, Skint and Suek¬†freedom wall for Fista.¬†DSCF3685Some keeping it colourful.DSCF3579Found a cheeky little Corpse sticker.DSCF3568 StitchSurge, Pawski and Mace beautiful memorial piece.DSCF3556Body Snachaz, Mars alligator.¬†DSCF3733Really like this quirky little fellow.DSCF3737Not a brilliant photo but I didn’t have my tripod, love this piece by CoLor.¬†DSCF3637Handsome chap isn’t he?DSCF3633As if!

Oh and if you were wondering, I recently found a FB page for Street Art Heidelberg that had an H2i production, painted in Sheffield, as it’s banner, I never knew I was in Germany, did you?

Sheffield Calling

DSCF1408 Stitch (8000x1031)Much as I enjoy a road trip, I’m always mindful that I’ll be missing something going on in Sheffield. And I really hate missing out on things. Like this awesome collaboration between Such, Time, Pawski and the mighty Astek who made a trip up north and stopped for a paint while he was here.DSCF1415If you’re from this city you will be very aware of the terrible hit and run accident that resulted in serious injuries to one young girl and the tragic death of Jazzy Chan. This beautiful tribute appeared within days of the incident. I honestly do not know how the driver who did this can live with themselves.DSCF1396Trik9 just keeps getting better, love these characters. The man himself has an exhibition on in September, can’t wait to see it.¬†DSCF0806Not seen one of these before, can anyone tell me what a Doriscy is?¬†DSCF0802Cheeky little Greenz piece I spotted.DSCF0671The finished Rocket and Fauna piece Eye Catching, very!DSCF0658Trik9, again, because everyone loves TMNT right?DSCF0599 StitchBurn, Lone and Rack One, part of a larger collaboration that was pretty amazing, but sadly rather badly damaged by the time I got to it.¬†DSCF1500Had to wait years, literally, to see this piece in the flesh, no idea who did it, but it was worth the wait.DSCF1418Cantastic Art, constantly trying new things, I really like this. DSCF1422Methosaurus, I can’t get enough of the awesome characters Meth is coming out with lately.DSCF1428Osiris, bluetiful! ūüėČ Osim not ¬†osiris sorry.DSCF0648Not sure who did this, Suek maybe, but I have been wrong before…but not this time ūüôāDSCF0636 StitchAsim and Erase? I probably shouldn’t be guessing, but whoever it is I like it. Osim not asim… I’ll get my coat….

I know I’ve got loads more to catch up on, better get my hiking boots on!

City Centre Tootle

DSCF9297Love the positioning of this Kent piece.DSCF9293A friend of a friend bought a ventriloquists dummy from an antique shop on Abbeydale Road and every time they had friends round for dinner they would set a place for the dummy, not weird at all! I understand that this creation is being used as an album cover.DSCF9336¬†The peregrines at St. Georges have laid 4 eggs this year, I wonder if they have seen this awesome piece by Faunagraphic.DSCF9341Rocket01 getting busy again creating this lovely lady. I still think the badges are a marvellous personal touch.¬†DSCF9339DSCF9304 StitchJaer, Mars and friends have redecorated some car park boards, they look really good but I’ve struggled to get a decent pic of the full wall without a car in front of it. I went back at the weekend to try my luck again only to find the car park owners have stuck signs all the way along it.DSCF9309One of Xhastexos ¬†luscious ladies, he certainly has a variety of characters in his ¬†repertoir….DSCF9346¬†Good to see this Booms piece is not lost forever, didn’t expect to see it in a tattoo studio though.DSCF9280 StitchRayna, loving this letter style.DSCF9289Another masterpiece from Skint,he’s becoming quite adept in painting in bloody awkward spots to photograph, I’m sure he does it on purpose!

I met a very nice (business)man this weekend who tells me he has big (very big) plans for a charity graffiti wall on  a well known Sheffield landmark, I do hope it all comes together, it will be amazing!

The Future’s So Bright So Bright I Gotta Wear Shades!

DSCF9225 StitchGood to see¬†Ryak, Jaer and Gzos making the most of the sunshine.DSCF9250 StitchThe finished wall, positively burnin’………… pass the factor 50!DSCF9213The glorious weather had brought Faunagraphic out to play as well.DSCF9242Lovely isn’t it?DSCF9143Of course the sunshine is all well and good but can be a bit of a nightmare with a camera, so this awesome piece by Foundry is slightly cropped to remove the shadow of a lamppost!DSCF9133Mr Kent, getting a little darker me thinks, looks like he’s been raiding my childhood toy collection.DSCF8981Eug with another of his evolving characters, one of the early ones is coming to live with me. ūüėÄDSCF8976Fishy business from the Fisherman, the walls of Sheffield are quite a spawning ground for fish with legs, should we be worried?¬†DSCF9258Mace and Pawski working wonders again, gorgeous. I’ve destroyed all my photos of the first 3rd eye, that went a little wrong ( good to know they’re only human though! ūüėČ )DSCF9268Sead with an another cracking contribution to this famous wall.DSCF9272I think I’ve seen a couple of characters about by this artist, I know nothing about them, I’m curious to see how they develop.

I had a lovely walk in the sunshine and bumped into lots of great people I hadn’t seen for ages. A few days later I had another walk cut short by hail rain and snow, I love spring! ūüėČ
