The last 10 photos of the pieces featured in this blog post were part of an organised event to brighten up the Sheffield Antiques Quarter, the vision was the brainchild of Hendrika Stevens with a little (a lot) help from Kisk (Smashproof), coordinating artists. I wasn’t able to go on the day, but many others did. The event was such a success, they are doing it again in September this year.

Nostalgic piece in progress by Skan.

Had a little wander while we were there to a derelict building that was quite popular with the local yoofs, as such it was in quite a sorry state. Spotted a few nice old pieces, whilst dodging rubble being launched from the roof, including this quirky piece by Pez.

And this hairy hand by Corpse. I should point out the local kids weren’t trying to kill us, it just never entered their heads that they might…. hopefully. 😉

Oxer, local legend.

All in all great trip out to a fantastic place. It’s huge, the work is top notch. I wish Sheffield had a spot like this. “Build it and they will come”, the success of this spot is down to one man, he made it and they came, and they keep coming. Big ups Mr Hai!

Love this lady’s work. A thing of beauty by Fem Sorcell.

Two faces, two very different styles, like them both, no idea who did either of them.

Got an invite to a ‘One Night Only’ Pop up shop, showcasing the art of Bob. I am a big fan , wasn’t going to miss it, and it was perfect, held in a derelict shop which added a gritty ambience to the event. The prices were very reasonable and I could have happily brought most of what was on display home with me. But I forced myself to settle for the piece above, and a few months later was lucky enough to acquire the piece below, which I absolutely adore as the dog in the painting is the absolute double of my girl Stella  🙂

I Can See The Sea From Here

Back in early Setember I saw an event shared on Facebook for the 2nd Grimsby Urban Arts Festival , 4elements, featuring a number of well known artists including the one and only Odeith! I didn’t know there had been a first festival and the fact that they had Odeith going, well I just had to check it out. Sadly, on the day the weather was awful, it rained none stop, but it did not seem to impact on those taking part.

On the way to Grimsby Minster spotted Mary Poppins, at least she had a brolly!

There was a number of artists work displayed in the Minster including several wonderful pieces by Pinky.

Peter Lee Crookes did this stunning picture, he was sat drawing all day, fantastic stuff.

Lynz, local legend from what I can gather, with an original quirky character style.

Dimeone canvas in the Minster.

Bristol based Cheo had several canvases on display.

Had a little wander around the local area found this cracker by Lynz.

 Artista, the Queen of Toast!

Apy, seen this up in Sheffield before.

Great to see a bit of Ample.

Also battling on despite the rain was Bargefest a Music Festival in the town. This band called Just Mammals were brilliant!

Inca and Spymad quality work as always.

Neonita, Girls On Top Crew

The weather didn’t dampen the spirits, one of the marshalls was dancing in the rain, with her mop 😀

Nomad Clan. Very happy to see these lovely ladies in action again.

Tens x Dibz, looking good.

Gfunk?, very funky!

Candie, GOT Crew. 🙂

She, GOT Crew.

Cool wall by Bubs.

Mr Zee, I think he arrived later than me  😉

DimeOne, Welsh superstar working on another fantastic production.

Scotty Brave, a whole other level this!

Excellence from Cheo. Love it!

Odeith, it’s really him and he really is amazing.

My biggest regret was not seeing everything finished but given the conditions people were working under it was hardly surprising.

I’ll be honest, on first hearing about this festival, I was a little bit cynical. In fact,I commented ‘Grimsby and Odeith, two words I never thought I’d say in the same sentence’.

Well yes, it was Grimsby, and yes it was Odeith, and a whole host of other excellent artists as well. It was a great event, that the weather didn’t spoil ( I went on the Saturday, the weather was much better on the Sunday, typical!) I’ll be looking out for the Third Grimsby Urban Arts Festival, I’m guessing it will be awesome, again!

Carpe Diem – Seize The Day

Augustish I think most of these were taken, can’t wait till the lighter nights are back.Happy to see Espre on cracking form with this classic production with Spil.

Angryface, he’s still angry.

Siko with a little help from Vangal, Odis and Monki (?)

Delightful doodlings by Dala.

Me and you both mate, me and you both  😉

Marcus Method x Kidstashscr fantastically colourful collaboration.

Fiesta, funky fresh.

Suek x Skint, don’t see nearly enough from these guys lately.

Always good to see, the legend that is Mistone.

Flamingo royalty.

Fivefive with one of my childhood heroes, Morph!

D7606, cherryade?

Doses’ touching tribute to his friend Jack Edwards.

Breaks my heart this..

This month (August) saw the tragic loss of one of my favourite artists Kosy, formerly known as Kosy the Crackhead. A large piece of his could be seen as you rolled into Leeds train station. His stickers were all over the place and he painted in Sheffield a number of times. I only met him once, at a Sharrow Jam, I was a proper fan girl and he was lovely. He gave me some stickers too.

Absolutely gutted at his passing, my thoughts are with his family and friends.

Never waste a moment, you never know how many you have got…

Seeing Double

As it stands I’m now about 5-6months behind with my blog posts, but you know what, it’s actually quite liberating. I’m beyond racing to catch up, instead I get a little rush of nostalgia as I get to look back. If anyone’s still reading, you might enjoy it too…
